hotel in Fife, situated 50 yards from one of Fife’s
award winning beaches. Our genuine hospitality and good

History- In the early 20th century The Sands was part of
Lochies Academy which was a private Day & Boarding School
for Girls (provided by the Catholic Church)- with a fine
reputation the building was subsequently occupied as a private
residence; then it became a nursing home; and later the
Orcadia Hotel. It was given a new name in 1993 ~ The Burntisland
Sands Hotel.
Fife is a wonderful area to visit with many old fishing
villages along the north shore of the Firth of Forth and
being the home of golf, has an abundance of top class golf
courses. Steeped in history with many Palaces, Castles,
Country Houses & Monuments. Burntisland is a perfect
base for touring- Edinburgh, Perth, St. Andrews and Stirling.
Location – Heading towards Kinghorn & Kirkcaldy,
Burntisland is situated on the A921 coastal road.

situated on the main Edinburgh/Aberdeen line. Contact Scotrail

• By Air: Edinburgh International Airport: Approx.
30 mins by taxi or car
(Follow signs for Forth Road Bridge and M90 Junction 1)
• By Car: Leave M90 at Junction 1, heading eastward
follow signs for A921 coastal road bypassing Inverkeithing
and Hillend. Drive through Aberdour to Burntisland. At the
roundabout turn right and at the T junction at the bottom
of the hill, turn left. With the sea on the right hand side,
The Burntisland Sands Hotel is on the right hand side after
the Links.
